Just as light in the room cannot be seen but rather allows us to see, so God is not directly experienced but rather is the name we give to a whole new way of experiencing. - Peter Rollins-

Bono did a fantastic job as he talked about AIDS in Africa. He talked about his ONE campaign. He said let me get in the pulpit and said, let me say let me say, “Let’s stop judging.” “Let’s start helping the poor.” “Let’s start helping those who are hurting.” “Let’s start helping those who might have AIDS.” I totally agree. It is time for the Church of Christ to start looking inward and start looking outward. It is time for us to start helping the poor, those who are suffering, those who need help, etc. We need to be know as a people of benevolence and love. We need to let our light shine.
Jesus says in Luke 4:18-ff “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has annointed me to preach the good news to the POOR. He sent me to proclaim freedom to the prisoners and reovery of sight to the blind and to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Wow. What great new. This is what Bono is talking about and what we need to be doing. I think like Bono said, “It is going to be left up to our generation to make a difference.” I don’t think our generation will be fighting over issues of the church like people are today. I think we will be more mission minded. More outward, emergant than anything.
I thought Bono was great like always!
Thanks for posting this for all to hear a wonderful message.

Hi Matt,
Thank you so much for the posting of Bono. (I’m so old I think its Bono as in Sonny & Cher). I’ve watched this 4 times and keep asking myself, “Why has I been so slow to learn?” I hope we will use this theme to begin 2008 with a new dream in our hearts for Christ and His world.
